Why You Should Have Accident Health Insurance
Posted on Saturday Mar 20, 2010 Under Front StageDid you know that most cases of death are caused by accidents than illness and old age? That is a fact from surveys done by insurance companies. It’s strange but there are more accidents that occur at home than in the outside world.
It is safe to say that if you do decide to get insurance for yourself or your family, it is better to get additional coverage for accident health insurance. You can actually avail of a separate policy for accident and health coverage. Or you can get this as an additional insurance coverage on top of your life insurance protection. How does it work? The insurance company pays the beneficiaries an additional amount if the cause of death is due to an accident. If the policyholder survives the accident but can no longer perform his or her normal duties at work, the insurance company provides an allowance or stipend which is called disability benefits. Disability benefits replace the loss of income when the policyholder is disabled for at least 6 months, can no longer work and earn a living. There are also additional benefits like a compensation for disability due to loss of body parts due to the accident. Each body part that is severed or losses its function due to the accident the insured is paid a certain percentage of the policy face amount to compensate for its loss.
