Tips in Wine Storage
Posted on Sunday Mar 21, 2010 Under Front StageAre you fond of keeping wine at home but don’t have enough space for a wine cellar?
You don’t need to spend a fortune trying to build an extra room to keep your wine bottles. There are wine racks you can buy from department stores that can hold a few bottles which you can display on a kitchen countertop or shelf. Small wine racks can hold from 4 to 6 bottles. These can be made of wood or metal and are elegantly designed for display. You can also buy wine racks which are taller and can hold more wine bottles. These can be placed in a corner of a room like the kitchen or in the dining area.
Here are some important tips to remember in wine storage. Make sure you keep the wine bottle upside down or slanted when you store it on the rack. This will keep the cork covering the bottle moist and easy to remove when needed. The cork keeps the moisture of the alcohol inside the bottle, keeping the spirit of the wine fresh tasting. Wine tastes better as it ages. The longer you keep the alcohol in the bottle, its natural processes makes the wine better tasting. One technique for this to happen is to keep the bottle tightly sealed with a cork and stored upside down in room temperature.
